How to delete your Threads account
If you are already sick and tired of Threads -- Meta's new competitor to Twitter which launches in two days -- and want to delete your account -- this guide is for you.
Note that when you request to delete your account it will take 30 days before the account is actually deleted. If you log in to Threads during that period your account will become re-activated. Therefore, after you deactivate your Threads account, be sure not to log in for 30 days.
- Log into Threads
- Click on your circular profile icon on the home screen, then click Settings.
- Click the Account button.
- Then scroll to the bottom where it has a red button that says "Delete account" and click it.
- It will ask you "are you sure you want to permanently delete your account?"
- It will show some of your Threads friends' profile pictures and will say your friends will "miss you" if you delete your account.
- Click yes to continue anyway.
- You will then need to pick from a list of choices why you are deleting your account.
- Scroll down and click "other"
- In the text area to type why you are deleting your account type that you are just sick of everything in general.
- Click "Delete account"
- You will then need to enter your password.
- Click Ok
- It will ask one final time are you absolutely sure?
- Click Yes
- It will say your account will be permanently deleted in 30 days and they are "very sorry to see you go!" and if you change your mind just log in within the next 30 days. be sure not to log in ever again
